Pontiac Torrent
Pontiac Torrent blends the nimbleness of a car with the capabilities and versatility of an SUV in a fun-to-drive crossover vehicle. Building on its successful first year of production, the Torrent continues to expand the brand's performance boundaries with a host of safety, ride, interior and convenience enhancements for 2007. In the area of safety, Torrent's performance package includes GM's innovative StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, tire pressure monitoring system, and front and rear disc brakes. These features are standard on all Torrent models for'07. The Torrent builds on its five-star frontal crash test rating with enhanced occupant protection in the event of a crash. This includes the addition of rollover detection sensors for the head curtain side-impact air bags and Passenger Sensing System for the dual-stage frontal driver and passenger air bags. The improvements augment Torrent's numerous standard safety features, including three-point safety belts for all seating positions and the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) child safety seat retention system, which can accommodate up to three child seats.
Pontiac Solstice GXP
The all-new Solstice GXP takes that pure roadster DNA and pushes it to a new level, with a 47 percent boost in horsepower and other enhancements for a more thrilling driving experience. The heart of the Solstice GXP is the Ecotec 2.0-liter turbo engine, GM's first direct injection offering in North America. It produces 260 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, making it GM's highest specific output engine ever, at 2.1 horsepower per cubic inch of displacement (130 hp) and the most powerful production engine in the Ecotec family. A dual-scroll turbocharger with a lightweight turbine provides nearly instant power, and an air-to-air intercooling system boosts the turbo's performance by reducing inlet temperatures. Dual cam phasing complements the turbocharging system by optimizing valve timing at lower rpm for best turbo response and quick access to engine torque. Direct injection technology helps the Ecotec engine produce more power while maintaining the lower fuel consumption of a small displacement port-injected engine.
Pontiac G6
Continuing its tradition of combining progressive design with innovative performance, Pontiac breaks new ground by offering the industry's first 2+2 coupe with an all-weather retractable hardtop and a starting price under $29,000. The G6 convertible is now available in dealer showrooms and blends sporty coupe styling and interior spaciousness with the performance capabilities expected of a Pontiac. The key element of the G6 convertible is the retractable hardtop system. Convertible engineering specialist Karmann Technical Development L.L.C. was instrumental in developing the sophisticated two-piece clamshell-style retractable hardtop that is also very user-friendly-- it takes approximately 30 seconds to transform the G6 from coupe to convertible, or vice versa, with the touch of a single button. A double-hinged trunk lid facilitates stowing the top. Opening like a conventional trunk for cargo storage, the deck lid is reverse-hinged to accept the folding hardtop.
