Saab 9-3
The 2008 Saab 9-3 range makes its debut in Saab showrooms sporting major exterior enhancements inspired by the acclaimed Aero X Concept. In keeping with Saab's driver focused heritage, the 2008 9-3 range gets a more powerful engine to match the more powerful-looking exterior: The 2.8L V-6 turbo has been modified to produce 255 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. New front fenders; new headlamps, fog lamps and taillamps; new front and rear bumpers (Aero receives unique front and rear bumpers with a matte chrome fog lamp surround); color-matched Aero rocker panels on all models and new door handles also update the 9-3 exteriors. Flat wiper blades reduce noise and improve vehicle aesthetics. The new headlamp design wraps around to the flanks of the vehicle and accommodates the new, available Xenon cornering headlamps, which adjust horizontally in conjunction with the vehicle's steering for greater visibility. This distinctive headlamp design element, as well as the clean, monochromatic doors and bumpers, give the 2008 9-3 a longer, sleeker, cleaner and faster look.
Saab 9-5
The 2008 Saab 9-5 portfolio brings stylish European performance, luxury and value to the midsize sport sedan category. Both the 9-5 Sedan and SportCombi models feature sophisticated, aircraft-inspired design inside and out, befitting Saab's storied aviation heritage. For the 2008 model year, the OnStar safety and security system; tire pressure monitoring system and rain-sensing windshield wipers are standard on all 9-5 models, bringing even greater levels of safety and security to the 9-5 series. Leather-appointed sport seats in Black or Parchment also are standard on all models. Also new for 2008, five-spoke high-split alloy wheels are included on the Aero, and power-folding mirrors are included in the Visibility Package The Visibility Package offers aerodynamic headlamps with xenon projector beams; power-folding and auto-dimming outside mirrors; and the Saab rear-park assist system. All 9-5 models are powered by a single 2.3L I-4 Turbo with 260 horsepower, and 258 lb.-ft. of torque (350 Nm), mated to a five-speed automatic Sentronic transmission or available five-speed manual transmission.
Saab 9-7X
The Saab 9-7X brings unique Saab brand characteristics to the midsize SUV segment, including sophisticated styling inside and out, premium design features, and the sporty and spirited performance inherent to Saab vehicles. The 2008 9-7X lineup consists of very well-equipped 4.2i and 5.3i models. The Saab 9-7X features two different engines, including the 4.2L inline six-cylinder and the 5.3L V-8. The 4.2L was named one of the "10 Best Engines" by Ward's AutoWorld Magazine for four consecutive years. The 5.3L powerplant features Active Fuel Management technology that enables fuel economy gains of up to 5 percent in certain driving conditions by reducing half of the number of cylinders engaged in the combustion process. A sophisticated engine controller determines when to deactivate cylinders, allowing the engine to maintain vehicle speed in conditions such as highway cruising. When the cylinders are deactivated, the engine effectively operates as a four cylinder, with every other cylinder in the firing order disabled. Maximum towing capacity on 9-7X models equipped with the V-8 engine is 6,500 pounds.
