EMC3 Commuter
Promising 60 miles per gallon, the EMC3 Commuter makes its world debut at this year’s Seattle Auto Show. The vehicle offers fuel-efficiency, 2-passenger comfort and 5-speed performance for $13,995 (optional automatic transmission, $14,995). And its motorcycle classification allows the driver to utilize HOV commuter lanes, plus first-in-line access on and off Washington State ferries.
The EMC3 Commuter has its humble beginnings as a summer project between company Seattle-area Founder/CEO David Joner, his 11-year-old son, Cody, and 9-year-old daughter, Marissa. The design team was later joined by Pete Brewer, Forrest Page and several other engineers from around the country and the world. “Though many scoffed at the 3-wheel project,” says Joner, “our team knew we had a prototype for something truly revolutionary, something radically different than anything on the market at the time.”
The EMC3 Commuter comes equipped with AC/Heating, power windows/power locks, tilt wheel, AM/FM MP3, dual airbags, dynamic impact beam, crumple zones and breakaway motor mounts.
