LeMay Museum 1963 Corvette Sting Ray

Daytona Blue "Split-Window"

LeMay Museum 1963 Corvette Sting Ray
When the 1963 Corvette was introduced in late 1962 it featured an all-new body style derived from a race car built by GM styling guru, Bill Mitchell. The new styling was a big hit, its angular body with a minimum of brightwork and a distinctive split rear window on the coupe version.

This was the fist year that Corvette offered both a convertible and coupe body forms. Non-functional "vents" were featured on both the sides and the hood. The body was mounted on a new chassis with independent rear suspension. However, under the hood was the 327 cid V8 from the previous year. The standard engine produced a somewhat lackluster 250 hp, but the top fuel-injected model would produce up to 360 hp. The new Corvette, with the extended name "Corvette Sting Ray", would prove wildly popular.

The LeMay Collection's 1963 "Split-Window" is a "Daytona Blue" in color, and powered by the 300 hp, L75 version of Chevrolet's venerable 327 small block engine. This vehicle was used for an on-track event with NASCAR driver, Jeff Jefferson, and prominently features the LeMay Museum's logo.
