A
mericans will
buy more than
10
million ve-
hicles this year. The most
popular is the family
sedan in its many forms,
from compact to midsize
to … well, really big.
Sedans have always been
popular because they do
what cars were always
supposed to do — move
people around in comfort
and safety, and provide a
place to put their stuff.
The action this year
is in the midsize class,
where the competition
is intense. Some stand-
outs include the all-new
Fusion and a refreshed
Taurus from Ford; the
Audi A6; the Buick
Verano; a brand-new
Chevy Malibu and Nissan
Altima; the Volkswagen
CC and Jetta; the Honda
Accord; the Toyota Ava-
lon and Camry; and the
Acura ILX.
Adding to the wheel-
base size (and sometimes
the sticker price), the
full-size sedans represent
everything a sedan lover
loves about sedans. Set-
ting the pace are big rides
like the BMW 7 series, the
Cadillac XTS, the Lincoln
MKS, the Lexus ES 350,
the Jaguar XJ, the Volvo
S80, the Infiniti G Sedan
and the Hyundai Genesis.
